The sunny weather helped make June a month packed with activities and adventures for all our residents with learning disabilities. There were plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sunshine and make the most of the longer days, and when it got too hot, we found lots to keep us busy indoors.

Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from a busy and memorable June…

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream!

What a treat on a hot day!

There were smiles all around when the Mr Whippy ice cream van paid a visit to Jemini Place. Gez was on hand to support Harry with his ice cream choice, making sure he was able to choose a treat he really fancied… and that was a double cone ninety-nine – with that special chocolate flake!

The rest of the team, as you can see, tucked into the Bubble-gum knickerbockers, just loving the bubblegum sauce 😊

A lovely day for a Swim!

Harry chose the perfect day for a dip in the sea! He spent the afternoon chilling on his graffiti-style float board – check out the video of him riding the waves below and having a brilliant time 😊

Fun – on three wheels

While Harry was splashing about on the water, Sammy and Stephen had their fun on dry land. They took to three wheels, At Wheels for All, the inclusive cycling initiative based in Eastbourne – you can read all about their adventures there in our mini blog ‘Out & About… Wheels for All’

Matthew joined in the fun too. He headed to Raystede animal sanctuary with Laurinda to cycle round and visit the animals – first stop, the goats!

Raystede is a place our residents return to time and time again, for its nurturing environment, you can read all about their visits… in our ‘Out & About… at Raystede Animal Sanctuary’

All the fun of the Fair

When the fair comes to town, you’ll always know where we’ll be!

Michael and Stephen had a fantastic time at the fair, enjoying the rides, games and all the fun of the fairground!

They were supported by Charley and Aravindh, who helped make it a fun and enjoyable day out. Lots of smiles, laughter and great memories were made, and you can read all about it in our ‘Out & About… at the Funfair‘ blog 😊

Sensory Fun

Sensory activities are an important part of supporting our adults with learning disabilities. They provide opportunities to explore different sights, sounds textures, smells and movements in a safe and enjoyable way.

Sammy returned to Aspens sensory room this month with Lanre, you can read all about our residents’ sensory experiences and the role they play in everyday life in our blog.

Life is Sweet… at Sweet Circus

Throughout June, our residents continued their weekly visits to Sweet Circus for their therapeutic circus play sessions.

Here are Stephen and Ellie having fun, and you can see all our residents getting involved and enjoying sensory activities in the videos on our blog – ‘Out & About… Sweet Circus’.

It’s certainly been another busy month for our residents, both out and about and at home, so we’ll finish off June’s visit to Jemini with Sammy’s wonderful painting and Stephen’s fantastic Father’s Day card… until next month 😊
