“… that’s the best part of the job, making their lives happier and more fulfilled.”

Enjoyable whatever the season and whatever the weather, Arlington Reservoir near Polegate is one of Harry’s favourite places to visit.

It’s a nature reserve, temporary home to thousands of migratory birds over Winter and the likes of kingfishers and great crested grebe all year round. And birds aren’t the only wildlife to be seen – the reservoir has carp, bream, even eels – so there’s a lot to see!

There’s a 3km circular trail around the reservoir which is signposted with things to look out for – the different birds, butterflies, flowers… even dormice!

And, about halfway round, there’s a bird hide where you can watch a wide variety of birdlife.

Spending time in nature and birdwatching can promote a sense of well-being for adults with autism and learning disabilities, and Harry finds joy in watching the birds and being outside.

It’s a fantastic place to visit, and we know Harry will return time and time again!

And, if you take a trip, and you’re really lucky, you might even see an osprey!
