Join Stephen, one of our Eastbourne residents, as he enjoys a trip to Boom Battle Bar. Living in one of our residential care homes for adults with autism and learning disabilities, Stephen enjoys taking part in a variety of activities that support independence, confidence, and social engagement…
He had a fantastic visit to Boom Battle Bar in Eastbourne – during the day, it’s the perfect place for indoor games, away from the wind and the rain!
Stephen chose to place Crazier Golf – like crazy golf, which he loves, but crazier! It had catapults, loops and conveyors – what a game – it actually drove us all crazy trying to get that little ball in the hole! Stephen was great at the loop-the-loop, we found it hard even getting on to the ramp in the first place!

After nine holes, Stephen decided to challenge us to a shuffleboard contest, which was excellent fun… and quite tricky – it’s a great test of coordination and patience! One shove too hard and your puck is on the floor!

… then it was on to a game of pool – the repetitive and predictable actions of pool and snooker not only aid concentration, but provide a great sense of achievement, in much the same way as golf does. Watching Stephen pot those coloured balls into the pockets was a real treat 🟡 🔵 🔴 🎱
He showed great focus and, more importantly, enjoyment 😊

And, after all these games, Stephen had really earned a ‘break’ – having fun is certainly thirsty work 🥤😊
