The hot weather continued this month, so our residents from our Eastbourne and Hailsham homes for adults with learning disabilities made the most of it.
Off on Adventures
Whether it’s on foot, by bus or on the train, our team supports our residents to experience life to the fullest. Wherever they choose to go and however they want to get there, we’re there 😊
Here’s Sammy off on a walk enjoying the sunshine, heading to the park… and Stephen is already there with Charley. Princes Park is one of our residents’ favourite places to visit, and you can read all about their trips in our mini blog ‘Out & About… Princes Park’.

The two intrepid residents then took to public transport for their next adventures – Sammy went with Ella on the bus to town to do a bit of shopping, while Stephen and Ashiqur headed on the train to Costa in Polegate 😊

Enabling our residents to travel by different means helps to develop their independence and confidence. With our support, we help them adapt to the different sounds and sights they may experience during journeys, such as noise, crowds and unexpected changes, including train or bus cancellations. We choose quieter times of the day to travel and plan journeys in advance, using photographs of the route to help illustrate and familiarise residents with what to expect. We do everything we can to make the experience as positive as possible… and one to repeat, as you’ll know, if you’ve read our previous blogs and seen where Stephen and Sammy’s journeys have taken them – bowling, to the cinema, to the beach and further afield – to Bubble Planet and beyond!
A breath of fresh air…
Matthew and Harry have spent time outside this month too.
Enjoying the nature that’s just on our doorstep is an essential part of our residents’ lives at Jemini. Exploring the outdoor spaces brings not only a sense of calm for adults with autism, but also the opportunity to experience new sights, sounds and surroundings… the smell of cut grass, the sound of the birds, the feel of the breeze 😊

Matthew spent another wonderful afternoon in nature, walking around the lake at Ashburnham Place near Battle with Laurinda. Our residents love returning to this special spot to enjoy its beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Read all about their visits in our blog, ‘Out & About… Ashburnham Place’.

Harry chose to go for a stroll along the Seven Sisters with Jan. Here he is taking a well-earned rest, taking in coastal views, listening to the sound of the waves, and enjoying that breath of fresh air, a lovely image to end the month on 😊
