What a cold and damp start to the year! It rained nearly every day, some days were wetter than others, so our residents preferred to stick to activities inside rather than out!

That said, Stephen managed to find a gap in the clouds to venture out to Morrisons with Aravindh. He caught the bus and went to do some personal shopping… and followed it with a well-deserved drink in the café!

We’re just chillin’

At home there has been lots of ‘chillin’ time – when its cold and wet, there’s nothing like relaxing on the sofa 😊

Matthew with Natalie… and Harry with Lisa

Tom spent many peaceful afternoons in his room, listening to music and working on his puzzles.

Puzzles can be especially beneficial for adults with autism. As well as being enjoyable, they help to improve memory and concentration, while also supporting the development of fine motor skills.

Sensory Fun

Sammy experienced a new sensory room at Acorns day opportunities centre in Pembury, near Tunbridge Wells operated by Aspens.

Aspens is charity which supports individuals on the autism spectrum and with learning disabilities.

Their sensory room is fully equipped, providing lights, sounds and projected images and can be booked online for hourly sessions.

There’s an interactive sensory corner, complete with a magic carpet projector which appealed to Sammy.

Life is sweet…

Although it’s been such a wet month, the weather hasn’t stopped our fun. We still made it to our weekly sessions at Sweet Circus!

Matthew’s balance on the trapeze is getting even better and better.

You can read all about our visits and find out how each bit of equipment benefits our residents. We’ve also put up some videos, so you can watch the fun for yourself😊

Let’s hope the weather improves next month!.. but even if it doesn’t, one thing’s for sure, we won’t let it stop us!
