It’s already August, where has the year gone? It’s been another busy month for our residents!

Adam

Adam made the most of the sunny weather, playing football with Jose in East Dean.

Exercise in all its forms is beneficial to our residents, supporting both their physical and mental wellbeing. You can read more on the benefits of walking, cycling and other activities in our July blog.

Having a kickaround is great for coordination as well as balance

Aisling

It was Aisling’s birthday this month and here she is surrounded by her ever-present books, opening some of her gifts.

You can find out more on birthdays at Jemini in our May blog, where you’ll also see Aisling on her trip to Bexhill… taking her books with her – she absolutely loves looking at them 😊

Ellie

Ellie has had a busy time! She’s settled in so well at Jemini, we couldn’t be more pleased 😊

Just chillin’ in the garden with Obi😊

and at home…

And out and about… at Raystede Animal Sanctuary – you can read all about her visit and find out how interacting with animals is beneficial to lots of individuals with autism.

Harry

Harry has made several visits to the seaside this August – taking advantage of sunny days, spending time on the beach.

Discover how much our residents love being by the sea and how being by the water can provide a variety of sensory experiences.

Sam

Paige has been helping Sam with his computer skills this month… but he’s also found time to chill!

Stephen

Busy times for Stephen both at home and ‘away’… first a visit to Wheels for All in Eastbourne.

Read all about our residents’ visits to this amazing place and discover what independence and sense of achievement cycling can give.

Stephen has also been in the kitchen… baking chocolate cupcakes – a healthy version made with dates.

Baking not only involves multiple senses, it also helps to develop fine motor skills. Measuring, pouring, mixing, decorating… all help hand-eye coordination, and the sense of satisfaction achieved on finishing a recipe and creating something to eat, is one thing that can’t be measured!

Our month finished on a high, particularly for Stephen, who was lucky on the tombola and won a set of cutlery at the local fete!

September is just around the corner… wonder what it’ll bring 😊
