Welcome Eloise
This month we welcomed Eloise, as you can see, she’s made her room her own, with her favourite duvet cover. She has settled in so well at Jemini, and you can read more on her journey here.

I do like to be beside the seaside
On days when it isn’t raining (!), our residents enjoy taking a trip to the seaside. This month, Harry went walking on Eastbourne beach, while Stephen enjoyed watching the rough waves in Seaford – you can read more about all their trips to the seaside here.

Eating out
Going to a restaurant can be an anxious time for adults with autism, the noise, the number of people, the lighting, music… can result in sensory overload, this is why we work with our residents to ensure they have a good and positive experience. We visit the restaurants beforehand, so we can determine where best to sit, what possible difficulties there might be and then provide visual aids with symbols and images to help prepare them for their visit.

Sammy at KFC, Stephen at Frankie & Benny’s after a trip to the cinema and eating a waffle at Creams Café in Eastbourne. He declared his Chocolate Obsession waffle and cream as ‘the best thing ever.’
Busy times
Adam has been out for lots of walks this month, he particularly likes to visit East Dean and Ashburnham Place, but he’s also been busy in the kitchen, as has Sam. He decided to cook some rice Krispie cakes for all to enjoy, while Adam was in charge of making the drinks.

Sam also found time to take part in a bowling match with Eloise – Billy took them to the ‘blowing ally’ at Freedom Leisure in Hailsham. There’s plenty of space for our residents to enjoy the lanes, particularly at quieter times and they have ramps and bumpers, so everyone can enjoy hitting the pins.

And after all the activities and outings our residents have enjoyed this month, what better way to end a day, than to just chill, like Harry 😊
