Situated on Rock-A-Nore Road, Hastings Aquarium is one of Ellie ‘s must-visit destinations. From sharks to starfish, seahorses to clownfish – and a Jungle Room with over 30 creatures including snakes, turtles, lizards, geckos and tarantulas – there’s always something amazing to see.

Feeding time!

With talks and feeding times throughout the day, it’s a job to decide where to go next!

The Archer fish are always great to watch – who’d have thought they could shoot water jets from their mouths to slam their food straight into the water, Ellie certainly didn’t! At 3pm, she makes her way to the tank to see their powerful jets in action – always amazed that they can hit targets a metre away!

Before that though, there’s time to visit the Ocean Tank – the largest tropical tank in the aquarium, to watch the fish being fed. There’s an underwater tunnel you can walk through, where you’re surrounded by fish – you can almost imagine yourself at the bottom of the ocean! Ellie spends a lot of time in this tunnel – it’s home to 300 animals, from sharks to pufferfish, so you’re constantly playing spot the…!

The Ray Tank

No visit is complete however without a stop at the ray tank – both on the way in… and on the way out! Ellie loves to watch their lovely little faces as they swim up to greet her.

It’s a wonderfully peaceful corner to visit, home not only to the rays, but also to seabass and a cute little fish called a nursehound, which is actually a member of the shark family!

Book a visit

If there’s time, Ellie might stop for a drink in the café but is more likely to want to take one with her and to go for a walk along the beach – the perfect ending to a perfect day!
